The everyday life of the small-scale farmers in the Region of Murcia, in the Southeast Spain. 

For this study, he is using the life-mode analysis, focusing on the “self-employed life-mode”. The research is concerned with some central questions on the survival of the self-employed farmers in the current neoliberal market and their co-existence against – or with – the big food companies. What kind of survival strategies can they use to make possible their way of life, and how they define their “struggle for recognition”. At the same time, all of these questions are put in relation to the political powers at both state and European levels. From this point of view, the strategies and the everyday life of the self-employed farmers in a little region in Spain are strongly connected with the European market and policies, but also with the global food markets.
