Talents Between Expectations and Practices

“’Talents’ – between expectations and practices”. A special issue of the journal Culture and History focus on highly-skilled migrants and the work and family life they pursue in Denmark. The socalled ’talents’ – favored by a political support of appealing to assumably attractive migrants for Denmark – turn out to materialize as highly different groups of migrants, who end up in both specialist and low-status jobs. The journal contains articles (in Danish) on four different fieldwork-based enquiries made during a master-class, and an introductory article discussing the way of approaching transnationalism and migration in a state and life-mode theoretical framework.
