Social Contexts

At Social context conferences in Copenhagen September 2013 and Dubrovnic may 2014 Thomas Højrup did present the case “Fishermen and ethnologists in the North”. Social Context is a project that gathers artists, academic & critical thinkers and socially engaged actors who work with and comment on the social context they live in.

The first conference took place at the Saxo Institute at the University of Copenhagen, Faculty of Humanities, who was hosting the international conference Social Context, inviting artists and academic & critical thinkers to explore how to participate in processes of socio-political change in Europe anno 2013.

Groups and individuals from Croatia, Denmark and Slovenia did present cases of organizational initiatives, art works and curatorial projects as well as contextual and theoretical perspectives on the geographic, socio-political and societal settings.

The speakers and performers were: Jakob Jakobsen, Morten Goll & Tone Olaf Nielsen, Platforma 9,81, publik, Renata Salecl, Siniša Labrović, Slaven Tolj, Srećko Horvat, Teodor Celakoski and Thomas Højrup.
